working condition. I retentively hand-pick lenses from several

This is of the new brood of improved lenses from Canon.
Date code UV. This is the best of 7 lenses auditioned. Seven?
Yes, first I bought and tried four copies of the f/2.8 model.
At the risk of offending, IMO they all stink wide open. Anyone
who I talk to and loves the f/2.8 lens says, "well I always stop
it down...". Well then why buy the more expensive, bigger
lens? This f/4 model is sharper than all but the 200mm f/2 lens,
and even then it compares very closely. This copy
definitely showed higher contrast and clarity than the other two that
I bought and tried. Too much work Canon! Please note that on
the first day I owned this lens I installed a B+W MRC UV protection
filter so you'll find the front element factory-fresh, but I've decided
to keep the filter because it fits a new lens I've bought. There
is a hole in the leatherette lens pouch visible in the first photo.
